Total Network Inventory is an application that generates a full inventory of computers connected to a network. This utility further allows a complete scan of remote machines on networks for offices and large enterprises, without requiring a separate program to perform these functions. All data collected are reported back to a server administrator, so as to be included into a centralized database. Afterward, this data centralization process helps system administrators keep track of tasks that are performed on specific computers, license expiration dates for different applications or antivirus software, and so on.
As a PC audit utility, Total Network Inventory is able to provide specific data regarding the machines connected to a specific network, such as information on their operating system, hardware, programs currently running, hotfixes, or service packs. For example, this utility provides system administrators with complete information regarding all pieces of software installed on a remote computer. The report includes information about the publisher, licenses, or copies of the programs in question. For a better control over performed inventories, the utility allows you to either focus on a specific piece of software, to select a whole list of highlighted ones, or even to examine whether their licenses are up to date.
One interesting thing about this tool is the fact that it allows you, as a user, to personalize the reports, before including them into a centralized database. Thus, besides the company and report name, your company logo can also be attached to the header of saved files. To do so, you should just access the “Edit” menu, and then select “Storage Properties”.
To conclude with, Total Network Inventory comes across as an efficient utility designed to provide a complete report on the status of remote computers on a specific small or medium-size network. This application comes with numerous useful features and setting options, enabling system administrators to filter and select reports for only specific tasks, or pieces of software on any of the network remote computers.

Some bugs still exist but the team has done a good job of updating the program. I highly recommend Total Network Inventory for anyone working with network PCs, servers, switches and printers.
